I've always had an interest in computers ever since I was little. When I was a kid, I always loved taking apart electronics and computers to find out how things worked. I started building computers when I was in high school, primarily for gaming. I always enjoyed overclocking and tweaking hardware to achieve maximum performance. Programming and coding is something I always found very intimidating, so I never dove too deep into it, However I always wanted to know more about how everything works in the world of technology.
When I was in high school, I was really involved in music. I was in percussion and I loved it. I loved playing in the symphony, on drumline, as well as playing drum set outside of school. Although, when I was a senior, I started to wonder if music was really where I wanted to go. As much as I enjoyed playing and making music, It didn't seem like something I really wanted to do long term. I was also against going to college. So after I got out of high school, I found myself working manual labor jobs in multiple different areas trying to find something I wanted to do.
I eventually ended up as an installation technician for Vivint Smart Home. It was more technical that any other job I've ever had. I also got to work and deploy from home, which I really enjoyed and gave me a good sense of personal agency. However, I got laid off during the 2020 pandemic, and I struggled to find another job that payed as well, and due to my lack of income, I ended up losing my place as well as my dog, and some friends. I had to move back home until I could get back up on my feet.
I decided it was time for a change. As much as I enjoyed working for Vivint, I needed something that was actually going to challenge me. I needed a career where I could learn something new everyday, be creative, and do something that I know I will actually enjoy, and will continue to enjoy doing. I decided to go to Centriq Training, and Russ set me on the Full-Stack Web Development track. I can say I've been enjoying it A LOT. I look forward to continuing my learning through the rest of this track, and into my new career, and hopefully for the Rest of my life.
